CriticalMed Plan
Coverage for a set-limit of catastrophic care.
The CriticalMed Plan provides a predetermined, set-limit of catastrophic coverage. The plan can be offered as a core benefit option for uninsured employees or as a supplemental buy-up option for underinsured employees who are enrolled in a limited-benefit plan. It is not intended to replace mini-med or major-medical coverage.
CriticalMed offers an option for individuals who are concerned about insurance coverage for major events. The simple and affordably priced plan is designed for individuals who are willing to self-pay their day-to-day medical expenses and forego first-dollar insurance coverage. A set-limit of catastrophic insurance coverage can be selected to best meet a person’s needs, similar to selecting the face value of a life insurance policy. Coverage limits available are $15,000, $25,000 and $50,000 per year.
In addition to the insurance benefits, members will also have access to DoctorNavigator.com. The online price transparency tool helps insured individuals comparison shop for prices of physician services and prescription drugs before services are received. They will also obtain ongoing, pre-negotiated, discounted rates at network providers that range from 10-40% and helps to save money on out-of-pocket medical expenses.
